About Us
The Long Version…
I just need to make a difference, it’s part of who I am. It was a philosophy instilled in me by the strong women who preceded me. My great-grandmother was a nurse at a prestigious hospital‒all while raising four children. My grandmother was a college biology professor‒also while raising four children.
The legacy continued with my mother. While raising three children by herself, my mother worked as a chemical engineer. But when I was young, she became very ill from this unknown bacteria she’d researched. It impacted her every day, but she still managed to get us to soccer, help with homework, and care for us in a million other ways. This family history of strong women struggling (yet killing it!) profoundly impacted me.
In 2002, I started a small consulting firm for women consultants, but it was just before its time. So instead, I made corporate America my home for the next 20 years while supporting and volunteering with every woman’s employee resource group I could find. And this ultimately resulted in me holding a few leadership positions, such as President of Women at AT&T Rocky Mtn. Region. Whatever I did, I just couldn’t shake this persistent desire to help women.
In 2019, I first envisioned SmartMomGig.com, and I knew exactly what I wanted it to be. But life got in the way. I didn’t know that I would soon be a single mom. Then, with COVID came change. Change in perspective, change of heart, change of lifestyles, and most importantly… a chance to spend more time with family. And all these changes reminded me of my goal‒empowering women to stay in the workforce, update their skills, and provide for their families.
It was finally time for my idea to come to light! I realized that every job I had ever had was just fuel for the fire I needed to launch this concept into the ether. Now came the hurdle of getting over my fears and doing what I had counseled so many others to do‒believe in themselves!
So, here I am today starting a new company‒ one that will change how we hire, work, and get things done. While SmartMomGig.com helps moms find work, it benefits everyone! The BENEFIT to every manager, business owner, and entrepreneur is having someone eager to work and willing to do it for less‒simply for the flexibility & the freedom it offers.
The edge of anything is painful if you lean too far one way or the other. I’m leaning here today, and I hope you can see the merits of my dream and how we can unite to make it happen. And I hope you give this idea & company a chance to prove we all deserve to work differently.
THE ASK! I’m asking you to please post a job or, at the very least, send this to someone who can! Thank you for your support!
